EST has the privilege of having, Christina Chen, to come and present this important topic as part of EST’s series of startup workshops. 

About Christina:
Graduated from NTU and Oxford (LLM) and worked for KPMG (tax department) and Lee and Li (top tier law firm in Taiwan), Christina is a lawyer with her practice focus in tax laws, company laws, labor laws and general civil disputes. Now she is involved in a startup project regarding sale of software.

Her first presentation will be a general review of legal issues which she regards as necessary to be incorporated into your startup plan, which will include the following five sections:

1. Brief introduction of Taiwanese legal framework and free resources. 
=> Don’t worry if you are not so familiar with Taiwan’s legal system. Christina will lead you through the basic legal framework, introduction of government authorities and free resources for you to dig in more in regards to your fields.

2. Issue #1: Form of business and residence.
=> The form of business depends on your business scale, your partners and funders, and the costs that may be incurred. Residence of business depends on the resources you want to get and refund of such resources to local government, i.e. tax.

3. Issue #2: Shareholders agreement
=> Important issues of shareholders agreement will be highlighted to strengthen your cooperation relationship with your partners and funders.

4. Issue #3: Foreigners’ entrepreneurship in Taiwan.
=> Introduction of special compliance procedures/documents required for foreigner entrepreneurs.
